Somewhat Productive

I had higher hopes for my 4 day weekend but only got 2 small projects done. A migraine had me down for 2 days and well laziness won out the other days. Anyways, here is some pictures of what I did. I also posted the links to the tutorials that I got the ideas from. I want to give credit where credit is due.

The first project was a grocery bag holder. We had all our bags sitting in a cloth basket and I really thought this was a fun idea. I am convinced that every household should have one. I hung it in our living room closet to get it out of the way. I am just sad that I couldn't find a place to showcase it in the kitchen. Notice it is owls, my obsession comes out once again.

The second project is a set of coasters that I made with some left over scraps of fabric. It is the perfect thing to make with scraps. One side of the coasters is the left over fabric I had from my wall hanging. The other side is just scraps that I thought went well with the Wonderland fabric.

The last picture I have is to show these really cute pillow cases that I got at Target for $5. They were in the dorm room section and they are probably somewhat juvenile, but I thought they were cute and added more color to my bed.

Wall Hanging

I finally got Dylan to hang up the wall hanging that I made last weekend. The first is a picture of the hanging itself to see the amazing fabric and then a picture in my messy room.

The walls are so plain but at least this will spice it up just a tad.

Good Intentions

I had every intention of getting a lot of projects done this weekend, however, my lazy self won out. I try to be all Suzy Homemaker but it just doesn't happen. I enjoyed curling up on my bed and reading a book instead in this ridiculously warm weather.

I tried to start the mobile that I am making for Constance but I have to get all the attachments first otherwise weighing out the branches will be all screwed up once I put the other stuff on. I also tried to start making a pair of baby shoes for Grace but then couldn't decide on what fabric I wanted to use.

So in an effort to do something with fabric, I made the canvas to hang over my bead which took all of 5 minutes tops. At least I got something done even though it required no sewing. Once Dylan hangs it I will put up a picture.

But for now, I watch Kourtney and Khloe take Miami and then sleep will win me over.

Finally

Today I finally got my fabric that I have been waiting for from England. I won't tell you how much I paid for it since I had to pay in pounds and shipping from another country but I can tell you that it is the most amazing fabric ever. It is by Momo and it is called Tea Time and was inspired by Alice in Wonderland.

I had seen it at Birch but passed it up thinking I could go back a few weeks later and it would be there. Wrong. I found it on Etsy.com and purchased it just to have the person I bought it from say oops I didn't update my shop and she didn't have it.

I was on a mission. A discontinued fabric and I needed it. I finally got it and even though I paid the most I will ever pay for one yard of fabric I now will have a cute wall hanging for over my bed.

Here's what it kind of looks like and I will post the wall hanging once I make it.

Birdy Towel

I have been wanting to try to make some hand towels and dish towels. I finally tried one and I thought I would share it.

It's been too long

I know I haven't been faithful with updating this blog but I have a good excuse. The last few projects I have worked on were taken on my sisters camera and so the pictures sit either on her camera or on my parent's computer.

But I do have a few pictures of a set that I made for a lady at my work who became a first time grandma. It was fun working on something that could be given as a full set. Her face lit up because she wasn't expecting anything. I love handmade gifts. They are so special and I know that people will cherish them because someone took the time to make something especially for them.

Here are some pictures of the pillow that I made for Dylan and my second anniversary. It was the cotton anniversary and I didn't know what to do but I came up with this. I have been on an owl kick lately so I was excited to experiment.

The picture of the back is hard to see but it says Happy 2nd Anniversary, July 6, 2009.

Hopefully, I can get my hands on more pictures of recent projects but until then I should probably keep sewing more or finish Constance's quilt that I have barely started.

More bibs...

Here are some more bibs that I made. The first two were for a baby shower and the second two I made for a guy that just had a baby at my dad's work. I will try to get a picture soon of the blanket that Andrea made to go with the first two for the baby shower.

Aprons

It has been a little while since I posted on here but we have been busy. The first apron Andrea made to go along with the turtle bib that was in the last post. The second apron was for the granddaughter of a lady that Andrea works with.

Bibs

Andrea and I have decided to start up a blog about the projects that we are working on. Recently I have been making bibs and appliqueing felt animals onto them. I am really enjoying purchasing the fabric and finding a cute little critter to compliment the fabric. They are reversible and in my opinion super cute. The 2 below were made for a lady that Andrea works with whose daughter is having a little boy. Hopefully Andrea will post the apron that she made to go with the turtle bib for the sister of the new baby.
